LEP Decant Strategy
Please see our glossary for an explanation of the terms used on this page.
There are two cases in our target construction programme where we think certain schools should be built first, as shown in our decant strategy diagram (31kb).
To view this document, you will need Adobe Reader.
The first case is that we need Walworth Academy to move from their lower site into their new academy building; this is so that we can build the New School in Aylesbury and use it as a decant site for Sacred Heart, while Sacred Heart is rebuilt. Southwark Council and the academy sponsors have sped up construction of Walworth Academy to meet these needs. It means we are procuring Walworth via the national Academy Framework Contracts, rather than via the local education partnership. Walworth Academy is currently on schedule to open its new building on time.
The second case is that if we move Highshore, the new Highshore building must be ready before the school can leave their old building, which we will then refurbish for Bredinghurst Learning Campus Key Stage three.
We will challenge bidders to look at this strategy and improve on it, if possible.
