Leyton Square Community Hub

We have funding available for Leyton Square Park in Peckham.

The park contains two buildings, one empty and one currently used for under-5’s daycare. Unfortunately, due to their condition, we will eventually need to demolish these buildings.

The council has been working in partnership with the Friends of Leyton Square on the idea of replacing the two buildings with a single new building. This will be a purpose built, mixed-use community facility.

The project will explore the local community’s needs and investigate the cost of constructing a new Leyton Square Community Hub building.

A consultation on the project ran from Thursday 8 August 2024 until Thursday 19 September 2024. It included a community event in Leyton Square Park on Saturday 17 August 2024, where we had children’s activities, face painting and refreshments. View the consultation summary report

Latest updates

We aim to submit a planning application in February 2025, and once it is approved, we can start building the community hub.

Little Dorrit Park improvement project

Background

We want to improve Little Dorrit Park, a small park just off Borough High Street near London Bridge Station. The play area is not fenced off from the rest of the park and according to the bylaws, adults without children are prohibited from the park's play area. Dogs are also prohibited.

The proposal is to fence off the play area so that everyone is welcome in the park. Play equipment will be improved along with other improvements to the park and the Peace Garden next to Little Dorritt Park.

Latest updates

Two public consultations have been carried out. These were held in 2021 and 2022.

Email leisureprojects@southwark.gov.uk for a PDF or paper copy of either report.
