Southwark Apprenticeship Levy transfer scheme
If you want to recruit or train your staff we could help. We can transfer up to 25% of our Apprenticeship Levy to employers in Southwark who want their staff to have apprenticeship qualifications.
From GCSE to masters level, apprenticeship training can cost between £1,500 and £27,000. Learning methods include online, in the classroom and one-to-one tuition. Read more about apprenticeship training courses.
You can use the transfer scheme to:
- upskill your existing employees, which improves loyalty and retention
- grow the skills and talent in your own team
We can transfer funds to employers for new apprenticeship opportunities. This is especially true if the funds create an apprenticeship that would not exist without them.
You'll need to:
- have a business or organisation in Southwark
- be ready to use the funds to train a Southwark resident
- pay the wages of the apprentice (the transfer of funds can only be used for apprenticeship training costs)
- pay your staff and apprentice the London Living Wage
- tell us how your apprentice progresses
How to apply
We are working with the London Progression Collaboration to manage our levy transfers. They will be able to support and guide you through the process of securing a levy transfer.
Complete the LPC expression of interest form or email jack.shaw@ippr.org for an initial conversation.
To get the most funding, you'll need to say how it will help Southwark. Your application must:
- address skills shortages, with priority sectors including health and social care, hospitality, the green economy and digital and technology
- show how you're creating apprenticeship opportunities for disadvantaged groups (such as care leavers, NEETs, those with disabilities, long-term unemployed, and residents from black and minority ethnic backgrounds)
