Annual electoral registration canvas

Every year, by law, we must contact all households in Southwark to update the electoral register. Information we'll need. What you must do.

By law we must contact all households in Southwark every year to update the electoral register.

We may contact you:

  • by email
  • by text
  • by post
  • by phone
  • in person

Information we'll need

We'll need updated details for everyone in your household who is eligible to register to vote

What you must do

You must respond to tell us if:

  • the information we hold for your household has not changed
  • any information is incorrect
  • there are people eligible to register to vote at your address who are not included

You must respond if we send you a notification saying you need to respond.

You do not need to tell us about:

  • visitors staying at the address temporarily
  • landlords of rented properties who do not live at the address

If you do not respond quickly, we will send reminders to you.

You can confirm or update the details for your household on household response website . Enter both parts of the security code you've received.

If you have no changes to make, you can also respond by:

  • texting NOCHANGE to 80212, followed by part one and part two of your security code (standard charges apply)
  • calling 0800 197 9871 and entering part one and part two of your security code when prompted

You can include your email address and phone number, but you do not have to. We will use this information only in connection with your registration, and it helps us to contact you if there is a problem.

If you have any questions about how to respond, contact us by email to canvass@southwark.gov.uk.
