Carer's support plan
Once you've had your assessment, if eligible, you'll get a support plan and personal budget.
This support plan sets out the support you’ll get when caring for someone. It could be for:
- education and training
- a short break
- improving your health and wellbeing
- practical help in the home
Personal budget
You'll get a carer's personal budget which is to help you pay for things to support you in your caring role.
It can only be used to pay for things that have been agreed in your support plan. It is not taxed and does not affect any benefits.
The carer's personal budget can be taken as a direct payment and you can choose a one-off payment or monthly payments.
It’s paid to either a prepaid card or a dedicated bank account.
