Emergency support for residents

If you receive certain benefits and are a Southwark resident, you can apply for emergency help.

Evidence you need to provide

To consider your application for help, we'll need supporting evidence. If you don't submit it with your application, we'll contact you by email, telephone or letter, to ask for it. If you don't provide the evidence that we ask for, your application may be refused.

Examples of the kind of evidence we will need include the most recent two months of:

  • bank statements for all accounts you hold
  • wage slips, if you are working

If you have made a claim for Universal Credit recently and are still waiting for a decision we'll ask for evidence of this.

We might ask for other evidence depending on what you say in your application. We will only ask for evidence if we need it to support your application.
