Discretionary relief can be granted if you are experiencing hardship and your business is considered to be particularly important to the local community.

Applying for relief

In your application, you’ll need to show hardship and whether business rates are a large part of your business's running costs. We’ll also need details of the amount and types of debt that you owe.

Your business's balance sheet should show that the relief will keep your business running viably.

We can’t grant relief to organisations only on financial grounds, you'll also need to show how your organisation directly benefits the local community.
