Our Night Time Plan shows how Southwark’s night time economy can grow and evolve.

The plan sets out our ambitions and priorities for Southwark’s night time economy under 5 themes:

• the economic and social benefits of the night time economy
• the role of and interface between governing bodies and communities
• the public realm and the built environment
• public safety at night
• transport

Town centres and high streets are one of the four central themes of Southwark’s Economic Renewal Plan. We've listed the action we're taking. It's in response to the economic challenges from the pandemic.

We've decided to make their protection a priority. It's vital that we ensure our town centres and high streets remain vibrant and thriving. They must also stay accessible and safe for all. They contribute to the prosperity and unity of our local communities. A dedicated response is being developed. It will cover town centres and high streets. It will involve multiple councils.

The Southwark Skills Delivery Plan builds on the council’s vision for a fairer, greener and more resilient Southwark economy, as set out in Southwark’s Economic Strategy 2023 to 2030. It also supports the council’s broader ambitions as set out in the Council Delivery Plan and Southwark 2030.

Central to this is a first-class and accessible skills system that supports every resident - regardless of age, circumstance or background - to pursue and progress in their career of choice.

Workforce strategy

The workforce strategy will help our staff deliver our priorities better. It will reduce bureaucracy and help staff communicate more effectively.

The workplace strategy is to provide a bright, modern flexible work environment for our staff supports mobility, productivity and collaboration.

IT strategy

The council plans to become a ‘Digital Council’ and ‘Digital Borough’ within 3 years while saving more than £60 million. The IT strategy shows how we will build an IT service meeting the requirements of all our staff and residents.
