Temporary event notices (TENs)
If you want to hold an occasional event that involves selling alcohol or providing entertainment, you must give a Temporary Event Notice (TEN).

After you've applied
You'll receive a signed copy of your TEN by way of acknowledgement.
Rejected TEN applications
The licensing police or environmental protection team can object to the event. This has to be done within 48 hours of receiving the TEN.
An objection hearing will be arranged at least 24 hours before the event is planned to start. The applicant may attend.
Appealing a rejected TEN application
Failed notice redress
You can appeal the decision if you receive a counter notice in response to an objection notice. Appeals must be made to the local magistrates’ court within 21 days.
You must bring an appeal within 7 working days from the day of the planned event.
Other redress
If a licensing authority does not issue a counter notice in response to an objection notice, the chief police officer can appeal. You must make appeals to the local magistrates’ court within 21 days.
You must file an appeal within 5 working days of the planned event.
