You must register your business premises if it supplies, uses or handles animal feed, including:
- food premises that send waste food for animal feed
- breweries that supply spent grains for animal feed
Registration is free.
Exemptions: when you do not need to register your premises
Some activities are exempt from registration, such as:
- selling pet food in a retail setting
- making feed at home for animals that are either kept for personal use or not for food production
- feeding animals that are kept for personal use and are food-producing
- feeding animals that are not kept for food production
- selling small amounts of unprocessed farm products directly to the end consumer
- supplying small amounts of unprocessed farm products to local shops that supply the end consumer (this excludes spent grains from breweries)
- supplying small amounts of unprocessed agricultural products at a local level for use on local farms
- selling pet food in a retail setting
