Borough Market
The oldest fruit and vegetable wholesale market in central London.
Borough Market is the oldest fruit and vegetable wholesale market in central London. Since 1756 the market has been trading from its now 4.5 acre site.
Historically, the trade has focused on a wholesale market for fruit and vegetables. But, in recent years, a weekly retail market for fine food has been established. There are also a number of specialist food shops next to the market.
Borough Market has responded to London's passion for locally produced and organic food with its expansion into a weekend gourmet market. Its advisory food committee of stallholders and trustees ensures that standards are kept up.
You'll find it at 8 Southwark Street, London, SE1 1TL.
