The Maternity Commission panel
The panel was made up of experts from across maternity care. It was co-chaired by:
- Councillor Evelyn Akoto, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing
- Professor Dame Donna Kinnair DBE,
The other members were:
- Jacqui Kempen, Head of Maternity for South East London Integrated Care System
- Sandra Igwe, Chief Executive of The Motherhood Group
- Omar Campbell: teacher and Maternity Neonatal Voice Partnership lead
- Cheryl Rhodes, representing Home-Start Southwark
- Dr Benedicta Agbagwara-Osuji, director of midwifery and gynaecology nursing at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust
Community and professionals
Over 750 residents and maternity care professionals were involved in the work including:
- women
- family members
- grandparents
- religious groups
- local voluntary and community sectors
- frontline staff working in maternity care
- senior management and commissioners
- academics
- field experts
