  • create a family ‘nature box’ to collect what you find
  • plan time each week to do some physical activity in your local park

Park scavenger hunts

When children learn about nature and the outdoors, they're more likely to grow into adults who value and protect the environment.

So take a Park Discovery checklist next time you visit the park with the kids.

You’ll need a:

  • Park Discovery checklist
  • pen or pencil

Download a checklist on your phone or print it out:

When you’re at the park, tick off everything you find on the list. You can do it individually or work in teams. Timing how long it takes to complete the list can make it more fun.

Older children can extend their knowledge by researching what they find online or in a library.
