Your library account

Renew and reserve books and other items, replace a lost library card and manage your account.

Sign into your online library account

Sign in to:

  • check and renew your items
  • reserve items
  • manage your reservations
  • check your borrower details
  • create your own ‘favourites’
  • submit reviews of books, DVDs and CDs
  • pay fees and charges

Find and reserve items online

Search the online catalogue to find a book or other items.

Click ‘Place reservation’.

Enter your pick-up location and click ‘Continue’.

You will receive an email once the reservation is ready for collection. There is a 65p charge for reservations (no charge for borrowers aged 17 and under).

Problems with your account

If you have trouble using your online account, clear your browser cache and retry. 

If you still need help, contact us.

If you are in a library, speak to a member of library staff.

Lost library card

If your card is lost or stolen, let us know. We’ll make sure no one else uses your missing card.

Bring some ID to any Southwark library to get a new library card.

Replacement cards cost £2.90. 

Replacement cards are free if you’re aged 17 and under.

Library loyalty card scheme

Southwark libraries run a loyalty card scheme called the Reader Reward Card. 

The scheme is available to all library members. If you collect 6 stamps on 6 separate days you can:

  • rent a DVD for free  
  • rent 2 CDs for free
  • make 1 free reservation

Ask a member of staff about terms and conditions.

Expired account

All library cards expire after 2 years.

We’ll check your details are up to date before renewing or extending your library card.

If you’ve moved house, bring proof of your new address into any Southwark library.

Update your contact details

Log in to your account to update your email address or phone number.

If you have moved house, bring proof of your new address to any Southwark library.

Request a book that is not in stock

To request a book that is not stocked in a Southwark library, log in to your account.

You can also speak to a member of staff in any Southwark library.

To get the book to you, we’ll do one of the following:

  • borrow it from a library outside Southwark 
  • buy a copy 

There’s a £3 charge to request a book in this way.

There’s an additional fee of £17.30 for items borrowed from the British Library and other specialist libraries.

You can suggest an item for us to buy. If we buy a copy and if it’s added to the catalogue, you can place a standard reservation for 65p.
