Bermondsey

Paterson Park Lynton Road, SE16 Paterson Park is built on land that was once railway sidings bombed in World War II. The first section of the park was opened in 1953. In 2007, improvements were made to create a well designed open space to meet the needs of the local community. Facilities include a children's play area and a multiuse games area.
St James's Churchyard Thurland Road, SE16 St James Churchyard in Bermondsey is larger than most churchyards in the boroughs. It's a lovely open space recently refurbished with new plants and walkways. You can join a Friends of the Churchyard group to get involved in the future development of the space. 
St John's Churchyard Tower Bridge Road / Tooley Street, SE1 Virtually opposite Potters Field Park, this park has recently been refurbished with an improved playground for younger children, a mini adventure playground for slightly older children, new seating throughout, some in the shape of letters, and new planting beds.
St Mary Magdalen Churchyard Tower Bridge Road, SE1 Accessible from Bermondsey Street and the eastern end of Long Lane, this park provides a shortcut for commuters, seating, open grassland, and many listed tombs and monuments.
Tanner Street Park     Tanner Street, SE1 Refurbished in 2004, this pleasant park creates a handy shortcut through to Bermondsey Street. The park also has four tennis courts. Book a tennis court.
Pat Hickson Gardens Ilderton Road, SE16 Named after Pat Hickson, who was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) from the queen for her services to the community. This was planted by Southwark Council with a variety of trees, meadow planting, climbers and grass and shrubs.

All Hallows' Churchyard Pepper Street, SE1 Small churchyard maintained by local residents and enjoyed by local people and workers. The churchyard is also known as Copperfield Street Community Garden.
Cathedral Square Montague Close, SE1 This small Square, formerly known as Hibernia Wharf and Montague Close, sits between Southwark Cathedral and the River Thames, offering views across the river and featuring stones from the old London Bridge.
Christchurch Gardens  Blackfriars Road, SE1 The gardens surrounding the church have a small playground and a listed drinking fountain and offer a green haven for church-goers and office workers. The flower beds are managed by Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) who organise regular gardening days for volunteers and Steering Group meetings for the Gardens. For more information, contact BOST.
David Copperfield Gardens  New Kent Road, SE1 The Gardens were refurbished in 2007 to offer a landscaped area as a contrast to the busy New Kent Road which runs alongside.
Falmouth Park Falmouth Road, SE1 Located at the New Kent Road end of Falmouth Road, this landscaped park has a multi use games area and a children's playground.
Guy Street Park Guy Street, SE1 Guy Street Park, a small urban park near London Bridge, was refurbished in April 2003. Improvements include a playground for older children, a multi-use play area, a picnic area and a community garden.
Hankey Place Gardens Pilgrimage Street, SE1 You can find rose buds and trees in these small gardens located on Manciple Street, just off Long Lane.
Leathermarket Gardens Weston Street, SE1 Leathermarket Gardens contains open walking spaces and formal gardens. The name comes from the historic leather markets and tanneries nearby.
Little Dorrit Park Borough High Street, SE1 The park has a children's play area in a landscaped setting. Dogs are allowed in the small peace garden which adjoins the play area. The flower beds are managed by Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST) who organise regular gardening days for volunteers and Steering Group meetings. For more information, contact BOST.
Long Lane Park    Long Lane, SE1 A children's play area in a landscaped setting with mature trees situated between Long Lane and a residential area.
Marlborough Playground   Union Street, SE1 Also known as Marlborough Sports Garden, this multi-use games playground offers a variety of sports facilities which can be booked. It's managed by Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST). For more information, contact BOST.
Mint Street Park Mint Street, SE1 Situated in the space occupied previously by the Evelina Children's Hospital (1869 - 1976), Mint Street Park was developed as a local play space and venue for community events. The park includes an adventure play facility, multi-use games area and an outdoor gym. Nelson Square  Nelson Square, SE1 Located amongst local houses just off Union Street, this park boasts a children's playground and a multi-use games area, as well as a small garden area and mature trees.
Newington Gardens  Harper Road, SE15 Located just off the Newington Causeway, this park has two free multi-use, as well as two children's play areas in a landscaped setting with mature trees.
Paragon Gardens New Kent Road, SE1 With mature trees and planted areas, the linear gardens provide a peaceful green haven away from the busy main road.
Potters Field Park Tooley Street, SE1 Located on the south bank of the River Thames between City Hall and Tower Bridge, this park was reopened in April 2007 after a major refurbishment. The garden planting was designed by the internationally known plantsman Piet Ouldolf and the site is now managed by Potters Field Park Management Trust. Red Cross Garden Red Cross Way, SE1 The restored gardens were reopened in 2006 by Princess Anne and are managed by Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST). In 2016, Red Cross Garden was awarded a Green Flag. It features a pond and the attractive borders provide a habitat for wildlife. A mosaic, created by local school children, depicts the original creation of the garden by Octavia Hill in the 19th century. For further information, contact BOST.
St George's Churchyard and Gardens    Tabard Street, SE1 These small gardens are located just off Borough High Street with a churchyard opposite.
Salisbury Row Park   Chatham Street, SE16

Set within a residential area, close to the Bricklayers Arms interchange where New Kent Road and Old Kent Road merge, this park has a nature area and children's playground. It has a variety of planted areas and trees and has held a Green Flag since 2015. The park benefits from an active Friends group who organise community planting days and manages the nature area and adjacent community orchards.

The Darwin Community Centre and a multi-use games court are next to the park.

West Square Gardens
 
West Square, SE11 The tranquil gardens are located in a small square in a quiet residential area near Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park. The gardens feature rose beds and mature trees, including venerable Mulberry trees.

Camberwell

Brunswick Park St Giles Road, SE22 This small neighbourhood park is popular with locals and provides opportunities for sport and relaxation. The park has two tennis courts. Book a tennis court.
Camberwell Green Camberwell Road, SE5 Camberwell Green lies at a busy crossroads in the centre of Camberwell. A small area of common land, it was once a traditional village green that held annual fairs for several centuries. Today, Camberwell Green is home to a number of annual events. 
Lucas Gardens Peckham Road, SE5 A small Victorian Park providing a pleasant retreat located opposite Southwark Town Hall.
St Giles' Churchyard   Peckham Road, SE5 Attractive formal gardens at the rear of the church; includes some attractive grave stones.

Dulwich

Dog Kennel Hill Dog Kennel Hill, SE22 A small woodland park with a picnic area.
Dulwich Library Garden Lordship Lane, SE21 Attractive formal gardens at the rear of the library.
Goose Green East Dulwich, SE15 Once common land, the site was preserved as public open space by the Camberwell Vestry. The green is well used as a venue for local community events.
Honor Oak Crematorium Brenchley Gardens, SE23 Beautiful ornamental gardens with a listed chapel.
Honor Oak Sports Ground Honor Oak Park, SE23 Honor Oak was preserved as open space in the late 1890s. The site includes two football pitches, two tennis courts, a playground and picnic area.
Long Meadow  Gipsy Hill, SE19 A small area of open grass areas with seating.
One Tree Hill Brenchley Gardens, SE23 The name originates from the oak of Honor Hill and it is said that Elizabeth I picnicked under the oak at the summit of the hill. The oak tree surrounded by railings was planted c1905 as a successor to the historic one. The site has many ancient trees and is a designated nature reserve. Rail: Honor Oak Park. Bus: Numbers P4 and P12.
Southwark Sports Ground  Dulwich Common, SE21 Formal area for football and outdoor bowls.

Peckham and Nunhead

Bird in Bush Park Bird in Bush Road, SE15 Bird in Bush Park features a fruit orchard and sensory garden with decorative signage produced by local young people. This small park also provides a BMX track with organised sessions and a playground for older children.

Brimmington Park

 

Culmore Road, SE15

Just off the Old Kent Road, Brimmington Park provides a relaxing space, a multi-use sports facility, and a new children's playground completed in 2008. Events are held by local residents.

Calypso Gardens Calypso Crescent, SE15 A small neighbourhood park surrounded by residential housing, popular with residents and not far from Burgess Park.
Consort Park  Consort Road, SE15 A small park adjacent to Dr Harold Moody Park with a children's play area.
Cossall Park Cossall Walk, SE15. A small park with a children's play area that's tucked behind Queen's Road in Peckham. 
Dr Harold Moody Park  Consort Road, SE15 A small neighbourhood park adjacent to Consort Park with a children's play area, table tennis tables and basketball court.
Flaxyard Melon Road, SE15 A small grassed area adjacent to Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre in the centre of Peckham.  
Highshore Road Open Space    Highshore Road, SE15 A small pocket park with seating and shrubbery in residential surrounds and close to Rye Lane in the heart of Peckham.

Leyton Square Peckham Park Road, SE15. A pocket park in a residential area with a children's play area and outdoor gym.
Lucas Gardens Peckham Road, SE5 A small Victorian Park providing a pleasant retreat located opposite Southwark Town Hall.
Lyndhurst Square Lyndhurst Square, SE15 A small fenced park in a residential square.  
Kirkwood Road Nature Garden Kirkwood Road, SE15 Located at the end of Kirkwood Road, this small linear nature reserve provides a pleasant enclave and is popular with dog walkers.
Nunhead Cemetery Linden Grove, SE15 One of the Magnificent 7 Victorian Cemeteries with breathtaking views of St Pauls and the city.
Nunhead Green Nunhead Lane, SE15 Nunhead's village green is located between Nunhead Lane and Evelina Road, and is popular for events as well as a casual stroll. The green has picnic tables, a children's play area and a platform for performances, whether organised or impromptu. It also features works by local artists.
Piermont Green Piermont  Green, SE22 Opposite the western edge of Peckham Rye Park, this is a small open green surrounded by residential housing.
Sumner Park Sumner Road, SE15 A small neighbourhood park surrounded by residential housing, with a children's play area and a boardwalk.  
Sunray Gardens Sunray Avenue, SE22 Refurbished in 2001, this well used local park, formerly part of the gardens of Casino House, still maintains many of its original landscape characteristics. A feature of the park is the large lake. Other facilities include a children's play area and a multi-use games area.
Warwick Gardens Lyndhurst Way, SE15 Warwick Gardens is a small park well used by the local community and has now been awarded a Green Flag. The play area is a meeting point for local families and the five-a-side football pitch is ideal for informal kickabouts.

Rotherhithe

Cherry Gardens Bermondsey Wall East, SE16 A charming stone path meanders through shrubs and trees running alongside the edge of the Thames. In Stuart times, Rotherhithe was famous for its cherry trees.
Cumberland Wharf   Rotherhithe Street, SE16 An attractive and secluded small park, adjacent to the Thames Path National Trail and the Jubilee Greenway.
Deal Porters Walk Deal Porters Walk, SE16 Starting from Salter Road alongside Surrey Water and then weaving its way towards Canada Water, this is a pleasant tree-lined walkway with numerous grass verges and seating.
Durand's Wharf Rotherhithe Street, SE16 On the far eastern edge of Rotherhithe next to the Thames, this park offers a wide tree-lined avenue and open grassland - a peaceful space for everyone to enjoy.
Holy Trinity Churchyard Rotherhithe Street, SE16 A small churchyard and a quiet haven set in an ever-changing part of the London Docklands.
King Edward III Manor House  Bermondsey Wall East, SE16. An open piece of grassland featuring stone remains of the residence of a previous monarch, King Edward III reigned from 1327 and 1377.

Lower Road, SE16. A medium-sized park of open grassland and trees, this park can be used as a pleasant walk-through to and from Canada Water Station. 
King's Stairs Gardens Jamaica Road, SE16 King's Stairs Gardens is a riverside park connecting with Jamaica Road. King Edward III used the stairs to access his manor house on Bermondsey Wall East.
Neptune Street Park    Neptune Street, SE16 A dog-free environment, this small park provides a quiet area just moments from the busy Lower Road in Rotherhithe. Seating is provided. 
Pearson's Park   Rotherhithe Street, SE16 This park has open green spaces and a large interactive children's play area.  
St Mary's Churchyard (Rotherhithe)  St Marychurch Street, SE16 Around the corner from Southwark Park and King's Stairs Gardens, this is a small churchyard in a quiet and attractive area. There are several graves stones and a small children's play area.
St Mary's Churchyard Gardens (Rotherhithe)   St Marychurch Street, SE16 Directly opposite St. Mary's Churchyard, this is a small pocket park with a circular walk around a central park area and ample seating.
Shuttleworth Park     Southwark Park Road, SE16 A small space running alongside a busy street bustling with shoppers, the park has a children's playground.

Walworth

Faraday Gardens   Portland Street, SE17 The gardens adjoin St Peter’s Churchyard close to Walworth Road. Features include a multi-use games area, a children's playground and a conservation area which provides an important habitat for wildlife.

Nursery Row Park

 

East Street, Orb Street and Brandon Street, SE17

This park is located in Walworth, nestled between Brandon Street, Stead Street, Orb Street and the East Street Market. It includes approximately 1.76 hectares of public green space, 2 playground areas, a wildlife meadow and a community orchard. It's central to the community and forms part of the lungs of the area.

Kennington Open Space Camberwell New Road, SE5 This small green space is located on John Ruskin Street and adjoins Kennington Park, which is managed by Lambeth Council. The park offers an outdoor gym.
Pasley Park Chapter Road, SE17 Formerly known as Surrey Gardens and the site of the zoological garden in the 19th century, Pasley Park is well-used by local residents and boasts a play area and designated dog exercise areas. It was awarded a Green Flag in 2016 and has an active Friends group that organises the annual summer fair and dog show. The Walworth Garden is a close neighbour on Braganza Street.
Pelier Park Pelier Street, SE17 Located on Fielding Street and just off Walworth Road, this small park has a multi-use games area and a children's playground and dog exercise area.
St Mary's Churchyard (Newington) Newington Butts, SE17

Once a large churchyard, St Mary's Newington has been transformed under the Elephant and Castle regeneration scheme into an extremely popular and well-used park adjoining the Castle leisure centre. It consists of a children's playground and a central grass area surrounded by large London plane trees.

A new plaza area with seating, new planting and a water feature opened in 2017.

St Peter's Churchyard    Liverpool Grove, SE17 This peaceful churchyard adjoins Faraday Gardens close to Walworth Road and includes a rose garden, mature trees and a community garden.

Surrey Square Park

 

 

Surrey Square, SE17 This park is located between the densely populated Kinglake and Aylesbury estates and Surrey Square and features a children's playground, a wildlife area (which has featured on BBC's Breathing Space programme), natural play equipment, community planting, wildflower meadow areas and the Peter Martin memorial garden. The Friends of Surrey Park work closely with us; the park has held a Green Flag since 2014. More information is available on the Friends of Surrey Square Park website.
Sutherland Square Garden Sutherland Square, SE17 A small tranquil green space in the Square in a residential area just off Walworth Road.
Victory Community Park Victory Place, SE17 Refurbished in 2007, this small park features a children's play area, a multi-use games zone designed for teens, a world border with unusual plants, a nature area (open by appointment) and a stunning mural, linked by a boardwalk. Community planting days and events are organised by the Friends and the local community and the park was awarded a Green Flag award in 2016.
