eAdmissions: step-by-step instructions

Closing date for applications - Primary and Junior schools: 15 January 2025; Secondary schools: 31 October 2024; UTCs and studio schools: 31 October 2024

To apply for a school place at primary, junior, University Technical College (UTC), studio school or secondary school, sign in to the eAdmissions website.

Sign in to eAdmissions

Create an account if you’re not already registered or if you have not used eAdmissions in the last three years.

Then follow these steps:

  1. If you’ve applied for a school place using your eAdmissions account within the last three years, select ‘Returning visitors’ on the home page and sign in. It’s a good idea to check your details are all still correct. Select ‘My Account’ to make any changes.
  2. If the online application system does not recognise your post code or address, contact us at schools.admissions@southwark.gov.uk and a school admissions officer will help.
  3. If you can see your child's name on your home page, click on ‘Start new application’ below the child's name. This will only be available for children whose date of birth falls within a relevant age range.
  4. If your child’s name is not displayed, select ‘Start application’. You will then be directed to the ‘Child details’ page to enter the child’s details.
  5. Select your child’s current school or nursery from the drop-down list or type it in.
  6. Select the school you want for your first choice from the drop-down list. You can apply for up to 6 schools. Select them in your order of preference. Select ‘Add school’ to add further schools to your application.
  7. When you’ve finished, select ‘Confirm selection’.
  8. If you’ve ticked the 'social/medical' or 'looked after/previously looked after/internationally adopted previously looked after child' boxes, you’ll need to upload supporting documents. Find out more about the types of evidence we accept in the ‘Starting primary’ or ‘Starting secondary school’ brochures.
  9. Some schools need to collect information that is not included on the admission application using a ‘supplementary information form’ (SIF). For example, a Catholic school needs evidence of church attendance. These are completed and returned directly to the school and not via the eAdmissions website.
  10. Submit the completed application by 11.59pm on the closing date.

Closing date for applications - Primary and Junior schools: 15 January 2025; Secondary schools: 31 October 2024; UTCs and studio schools: 31 October 2024

You’ll receive an email (or a text if you’ve signed up for text notifications) confirming that your application has been submitted. You’ll also get an application reference number, like: 210-2025-09-E-123456.

If you do not receive this email and number, it means your application was not submitted successfully. Log in and select ‘Submit application’ again.

You can make changes to your online application up until the closing date. Select 'Resubmit application' for your most recent changes to be saved.

What happens next

If your application is unfinished, you’ll get an email reminder to complete and submit your application before the closing date:

  • around one week before
  • 24 hours before (as long as you register less than 24 hours before the deadline)

You’ll get an email with the outcome of your online application in the evening of ‘offer day’.

If you’ve signed up to text alerts, you’ll get these messages by text. If you have the ParentComms app you will also get notifications about your application.
