Waiting lists for secondary schools

Waiting lists for secondary school places in Southwark.

Southwark Council’s school admissions team holds waiting lists for all Southwark schools until 10 July 2025. After this date, waiting lists will be returned to each school which will maintain it for a minimum of one term (until at least 31 December 2025).

If we cannot offer a place at one of your preferred Southwark schools, we'll allocate a place at an alternative school.

If it's not possible to offer your child your preferred school, their name will be added to the waiting lists of schools that you listed on your application.

Your child's name may go up or down the list. Schools and admission authorities must allocate places on the waiting list strictly in priority order.

Check the waiting list

If you wish to know your child’s position on the waiting list at a Southwark primary school, you can email the school admissions team at schools.admissions@southwark.gov.uk from 16 April 2025 after 5pm.

If you wish to know your child’s position on the waiting list at a junior school in Southwark, contact the school directly, who will be able to advise you further.

Our school admissions team will pass the waiting lists over to Southwark academies, voluntary aided and free schools.

The school admissions team will contact you if a place becomes available.

Accepting an offer

If you do not accept a conditional offer from a waiting list within five working days, it will be offered to the next child on the list.

If you change address while you’re on the waiting list, you’ll need to show proof of the new address.

We do not hold waiting list information for schools located outside of Southwark.
