Description

Join us for a tour from Una Marson Library in Walworth to the National Poetry Library on the South Bank, mapping 800 years of poetry in Southwark. From Una Marson to Caleb Femi, Chaucer to Shakespeare, we'll be reading and discussing the work of poets both global and local, but all with links to the London Borough of Southwark. The walks will be led by the Head Librarian at the National Poetry Library and local poetry experts from the Southwark Libraries & Heritage team.
The second walk on Thursday 22nd August will be followed by an evening event at 8pm at the National Poetry Library. The event will delve into the life and work of Southwark local, Una Marson, the pioneering Jamaican feminist activist, poet, writer and first Black BBC producer. This follow-up event is free if you have attended one of the walks. Come along to discover more about Una Marson’s work, view a signed original, and see a live performance by poet Rosa-Johan Uddoh. Tickets are limited so we encourage you to book to guarantee a place on a walk.
