Aylesbury estate redevelopment OUT OF DATE

Contents

Overview

We’re building new homes and community facilities to replace the existing Aylesbury estate in Walworth.\

The rebuilding started in 2010 will take another decade to complete.

This is part of our commitment to ensure good homes are available throughout Southwark.

We’re also building a new:

  • library
  • community centre
  • health centre

early years facility

Plus new public spaces, squares and play parks.

The new homes are being built with our development partner, Notting Hill Genesis housing association (NHG).

Some of the first new homes to be built will be:

  • council homes, which will be managed and rented by us
  • a mix of social rentals and shared ownership, which will be managed by NHG
  • for homeowners

The new homes will also include specialist housing for older people and for people with learning difficulties.

More than 4,200 new homes will be built, replacing around 2,700 original homes.

400 new homes have already been built by London and Quadrant. A further 351 homes are now under construction on 2 sites.

229 of these will be council homes and should be ready by the end of 2021. We are also about to start building a further 352 new council homes which will be ready in 2024
