We can help you find an affordable privately rented home if you’re facing homelessness.

A privately rented property is a good option if you do not want to wait as long as it takes to get a council home.

We can help by:

• giving your landlord money to help secure your private rented accommodation
• helping you to settle in your new home
• helping you prepare to move
• helping you understand your rights and your landlord’s responsibilities 
• giving you help to relocate and connect to your new community
• making sure the property meets legal standards 
• getting any furniture you need 
• in some cases getting you help with removals 
• assisting with viewings

Check affordability

There are a few ways you can check what you can afford. You can:

• check Local Housing Allowance rates by postcode

• use the Turn2us benefits calculator to work out what benefits you may be able to get

• calculate how many bedrooms you can get.

• use our homelessness prevention affordability calculator to check if a property is affordable

• find out about rent prices in other areas of London
