Transfer of ownership notice

If you're a new leaseholder you or your solicitor must send us a formal notice of assignment and charge.

When a leasehold property is sold or passed to a new owner it’s known as an assignment.

The new leaseholder's solicitor must:

  • tell us about this by sending a formal notice of assignment (notice of transfer)
  • pay the fee (the amount is stated in the lease)
  • send us a notice of charge if the property has a mortgage

New leaseholder

Once we've received the legal paperwork we’ll contact you (the new owner) with information about:

  • your service charges
  • building insurance
  • signing up for an online MySouthwark account

Check that your solicitor has sent us the paperwork and paid the fee.

Or you can pay the fee and upload a copy of the notice.
