Book a citizenship ceremony

To celebrate your final step to becoming a British citizen, you must attend a citizenship ceremony. You will swear an oath to the Crown and make a pledge to uphold UK values and laws. 

Anyone over 18 accepted to become a British citizen must attend a ceremony. Children are not required to attend.

Once you get British citizenship, you will get an invitation from the Home Office. It will ask you to book your citizenship ceremony. Email us at registrars@southwark.gov.uk providing your:

• full name
• phone number
• Home Office reference

You have 3 months to attend a citizenship ceremony.

All ceremonies take place at The Register Office, 34 Peckham Road, London, SE5 8QA.

When you attend the ceremony, you'll need your:

• ​original invitation letter or email from the Home Office
• passport or photo ID

Private citizenship ceremonies

We offer private citizenship ceremonies Monday to Friday:

• for one person, £384
• for a family of 2 to 3 people, £277 per person
• for a family of 4 to 5 people, £235 per person
