Funeral expenses and charges
Funeral fees and information about financial assistance from the government.
Funerals can be both expensive and unexpected. Help is available to those who struggle to pay for them.
If you're arranging the funeral yourself and receive one of the following benefits, you may qualify for government assistance:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Pension Credit
- Housing Benefit
- the disability or severe disability element of Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
To find out more, view the funeral payments page on the GOV.UK website.
You can also get advice from your local Jobcentre Plus. They can arrange an interview or send you the claim form SF200 to assist with funeral payments.
