Navigation information, boatyard details, emergency numbers and a history of the marina.

Boatyard services

The marina boatyard is on Calypso Way. It provides repairs and maintenance services to commercial and residential boat owners.

It does not provide repair services, but there are several providers offering services in the yard, including marine heating and electronics, carpentry, metal fabrication and painting.

The boatyard contains:

  • boat moving equipment and a large crane for boat lifting for repairs and maintenance work
  • space for boats to lift out and be maintained
  • facilities to store boats on cradles or trailers
  • electric and water services to the main work areas
  • storage containers and a communal facilities unit for residents and businesses

There are noise restrictions in the boatyard during the week from 8am to 6pm for power tools, and up to 2pm on Saturdays. Sundays and bank holidays are quiet days, and no work is allowed.

Towing

The marina workboat provides a towing service in the marina.

Boat maintenance

The marina does not operate a boat maintenance service. Approved and insured contractors can carry out work in the boatyard and marina. Boat owners must present a risk assessment and a method statement (RAMS) with a description of the works tofor approval at the marina office.

All contractors working on-site must provide third party liability insurance to the office before starting work.

The marina will stop any work that has not been approved, and contractors without insurance will be asked to leave.

Boatyard cleaning

Boats will not be lifted back into the water until the area they have been using is cleared of all waste. If the boat leaves without clearing the area, the marina reserves the right to charge its labour rate for cleaning and disposing of any materials left behind.

The marina accepts no responsibility for materials left on site after the boat has been launched.

Boat checking at launch

It's the responsibility of boat owners to check their boat for leaks and damage after launching. If the owner isn't there, they should nominate a representative to check the boat at launch time.

The marina accepts no responsibility for damage or water ingress for boats launched on the owners’ instructions.
