What to do if your vehicle breaks down.

It's your responsibility to make sure your vehicle is fit for the road. This includes making sure you have enough fuel to complete your intended journey.

If your vehicle breaks down, you should:

  • move it away from double yellow lines
  • not park on the pavement 
  • not park in a disabled bay

You should get your car fixed or moved within 24 hours.

Cancel a parking ticket

If you get a parking ticket during a breakdown, you can challenge your parking ticket. You must have proof from a recovery company.
