Road closures for children's safety

The Play Streets scheme lets your children play safely on the streets without any traffic.

Founded by London Play, this scheme aims to:

• revive the 'playtime' culture of the past
• promote healthy activities
• bring the community together

During the summer months, we ease traffic regulations to help local people set up play activities for their children.

Apply to create a Play Street 

To apply you’ll need to get a temporary play street order from us. This means a road can be closed for a maximum of three hours for one day a month.

Organisers:

• must make sure that all residents living on the road can park and access their homes as normal
• have overall responsibility for the event, including physically blocking the road

We can offer advice and provide barriers if necessary.

All applications must show that there's local support for the scheme.
