Road closures for children's safety

The Play Streets scheme lets your children play safely on the streets without any traffic.

Founded by London Play, this scheme aims to:

• revive the 'playtime' culture of the past
• promote healthy activities
• bring the community together

During the summer months, we ease traffic regulations to help local people set up play activities for their children.

You can apply for a Temporary Play Street Closure Notice, which allows you to close a road for children’s play for up to 3 hours on any one day per month.

Organisers must:

• make sure that all residents living on the road can park and access their homes as normal
• have overall responsibility for the event, including physically blocking the road
• read and agree to the conditions
