Fines

Anyone caught fly tipping will be fined:

  • £400 if paid within 14 days
  • £250 if paid within 10 days
  • £1,000 (maximum) if the fine is not paid, on conviction at a Magistrates' Court 

The fine is called a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN). 

How to pay a fly-tipping penalty

by cheque or postal order

Write the Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) number on the back of the cheque or postal order. You can find the FPN number in the top right corner of the notice. Make the cheque or postal order payable to London Borough of Southwark.

You’ll need to send it to the following address:

over the phone

Make a payment over the phone using a credit or debit card by calling the Community Safety team on 020 7525 5763. 

Opening times are:

10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Pay the fine using the Southwark Council payment system

You’ll need the:

  • Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) code 
  • FPN reference number
  • date of the FPN
