Housing facts and figures 2004/2005 to 2021

Total housing delivery

The Southwark Plan 2022 sets out the strategic vision for development in the borough. It sets out our targets from 2019-2036 to ensure that developments deliver the required growth and improvements. The Southwark Plan target for homes is informed by the London Plan and sets this at 2,355 per annum, or a total of 40,035 homes between 2019 and 2036.

The Southwark Plan includes a target, set by the London Plan, for the number of homes delivered each year. The London plan sets out the housing target for Southwark as 23,550 homes by 2028/9 (or 2,355 annually). This is the fifth-highest target across London. The target is informed by the London Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) and the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
