Over the past five years (2018-2023), some of the major schemes contributed to a significant number of new self-contained homes. The following schemes involved the approval of over 1,000 new homes:

Year

Scheme

Homes approved

2019/20

Redevelopment of the Ruby Triangle site, Old Kent Road

1,152

2020/21

Canada Water masterplan

3,348

2020/21

Redevelopment of the Tower Bridge Business Complex (aka, the Biscuit Factory and Bermondsey Campus)

1,548

2020/21

Redevelopment of the Cantium Retail Park, Old Kent Road (B&Q, Pets at Home, Halfords)

1,113

We have approved more than enough homes to meet its housing target. Housing approvals count the number of homes approved through the planning process. However, it does not mean they will be built. As a result, a separate set of completion data is provided to show the amount of homes built each year. Approval and completion data should not be compared as they relate to different schemes. The delivery of the approved schemes does not come forward at the same rate as completions.
