Make your home or building greener

Here are some ideas to help you save emissions and save money in the process.

If you're struggling financially, there may be support for your financial and wellbeing needs.

If you have an emergency and can't meet essential needs, use our emergency support scheme.

Reduce your carbon footprint

You can help the climate emergency and cut your emissions by:

  • eating more plant-based food
  • reusing or recycling products rather than buying new
  • trying the one bag a week challenge
  • walk, cycle or use public transport
  • offsetting emissions if you are a regular air traveller
  • joining a community group to share ideas

Get free energy advice for your home

The Energy Advice Centre is a good place to begin. It is a joint project between the council and London Southbank University (LSBU). You can get free expert advice on:

  • grants and funding that may be available for you to make green home upgrades
  • measures to reduce home heat loss at your property. This includes double-glazing and loft insulation

The service can’t provide recommendations on contractors or installers for home upgrades.

The Energy Advice Centre is available both in-person and online.
