Southwark climate action schools
Southwark climate action schools work together to help tackle the climate emergency. Any school can join.
Schools meet each term to learn about reducing carbon emissions. They also focus on
-
protecting plants
-
wildlife
-
educating young people about climate change
They share work with each other and learn about new opportunities to support their goals.
By becoming a climate action school, your school will have access to:
- resources, support and guidance for climate action
- sustainability experts
- collaborative and engaging workshops
- chances to become a 'Let’s Go Zero School'
Let’s Go Zero is a national campaign for teachers, pupils, parents and their schools.
Run by the environmental charity, Ashden, the programme aims to help schools commit to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
They provide practical support and resources, as well as a space to share best practice among schools. Around 1,000 schools have already signed up, including schools in Southwark.
Our Climate Action Schools Network acts as a springboard for schools to also sign up to Let’s Go Zero.
Help making a climate action plan for your school
New Department for Education‘s (DfE) requirements, mean that every school will need to have a climate action plan and a sustainability lead.
To help you do this, we have created a free resource including a guide to creating a climate action plan, and a template for your climate action plan which includes lots of example actions for you to use.
