Conservation area appraisals establish why an area is special. They set out our clear approach to preserving and improving an area. We use them to assess the design of development proposals in a conservation area.
We have started a long-term rolling programme to produce appraisals for Southwark's 48 conservation areas. Some appraisals are already in draft form and have been adopted while awaiting their final edit. Others are adopted for the purposes of consultation and are available for comment by local communities.
We also work with local communities. We help them produce Conservation Area Management Plans (CAMPs). These plans set out how to manage the future of our conservation areas.
