Timetable, fees and enrolling

Learn how to create a selection of tableware, drinking vessels and other types of handmade domestic ware. Suitable for beginners and the more experienced.

Our pottery studio has:

  • 2 kilns
  • hand building benches
  • 4 types of clay
  • earthenware and stoneware glazes

What you’ll learn

You'll learn: 

  • hand building techniques, including pinch pots, coiled vessels, soft and hard slab vessels and moulded dishes
  • a limited amount of throwing
  • how to use slips and underglazes to colour and decorate work

You'll create a selection of items, including:

  • cups and other tableware
  • whiskey stones or fermentation crocks

How the course is taught

Courses are tutor-led with demonstrations and one-to-one support. 

You're encouraged to support and learn from each other through group discussions on work in progress and finished work.

What to bring

You'll need a notebook and a pen.

After the course

On completion, you'll be able to progress on to pottery courses with other providers like Morley College or City Lit. 

Former students have progressed to open-access studios, such as the Kiln Rooms in Peckham or Turning Earth in Haggerston.
