What you’ll learn

- how to lay pattern pieces onto fabric
- how to cut the garment pieces
- how to prepare and use a sewing machine
- how to construct and sew the garment
How the course is taught
The course is tutor-led, with demonstrations, samples, and one-to-one support.
You'll support and learn from each other through group discussions of work in progress and finished work.
What you'll need
You'll need:
- a folder
- A4 paper or notebook
- pen, pencil, ruler and eraser
- paper scissors
- fabric scissors
- tape measure
- needles and pins
There's a £5 fee to cover materials used in the first few weeks of your course.
After that, you need to provide your own fabric, threads and other relevant materials.
You'll get more information as the course progresses.
After the course
You can progress onto our Intermediate Pattern Cut & Make #2 course or attend other fashion, textiles or crafts courses at Southwark Adult Learning Service, City Lit or Morley College.
