Our school admissions team maintain waiting lists for all Southwark schools until 10 July 2025.
After that, waiting lists are handed over to each school. They will maintain them for a minimum of 1 term (until at least 31 December 2025).
If we cannot offer a place at 1 of your preferred Southwark schools, we'll allocate a place at an alternative school.
If it is not possible to offer your child your preferred school, their name will be added to the waiting lists of the schools listed on your application.
Your child's name may go up or down the list. Schools and admission authorities must allocate places on the waiting lists strictly in priority order.
Checking the waiting list
Primary
If you want to know your child’s position on the waiting list at a Southwark primary school, you can email us at schools.admissions@southwark.gov.uk from 16 April 2025 after 5pm.
Junior
If you wish to know your child’s position on the waiting list at a junior school in Southwark, contact the school directly, who will be able to advise you further.
Our school admissions team will pass the waiting lists over to Southwark academies, voluntary aided and free schools.
The school admissions team will contact you if a place becomes available.
Accepting an offer
If you do not accept a conditional offer from a waiting list within 5 working days, it will be offered to the next child on the list.
If you change address while you’re on the waiting list, you’ll need to show proof of the new address.
We do not have waiting list information for schools outside of Southwark.
