Camberwell College Citizens presents the third Festival For Community Organising, exploring how art and design methods have impacted community action on the living wage, health and housing.

This is a publicly contributed event and not a council event. If you would like, you can submit your own event and have it appear on our website (subject to review).

Description

Camberwell College Citizens invites you to the third Festival For Community Organising, an exhibition and programme of events exploring how art and design methods have impacted community action on the living wage, health and housing.

When: 28 April – 2 May
Where: Camberwell Space, Camberwell College of Arts, SE5 8UF
Timings: The festival exhibition will be open all week from 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM daily, unless an event is scheduled. See full festival programme below.

This year, the programme includes an exhibition which spotlights the techniques involved in community organising when combined with art, design and performance. On display will be placards, banners, zines, publications, archival materials and more made by staff, students and the wider community who are listening, and acting, on societal issues that matter.

🎨 Open Community Press 

Tuesday 29 April, 16:00–19:00 

Drop in, open to staff and students and the community  

Have you got a message you want to share or a cause you want to communicate? Join this drop-in open print press, where we invite you to make prints and posters for change. Techniques will include relief printing and letter press. Come along any time, materials provided.  

 

🎬 Film Screening and Panel  

Thursday 1 May, 18:00-20:00

Join artists and filmmakers Eva Sajovic, Harkaran Singh and Alex Donaldson for a screening and discussion of 'Unearthing Elephant' & 'A Portrait of Central Hill' and a discussion on their work exploring community action, housing and memory. 

 

 🎤 Community Lunch & Exhibition Tour 

Friday 2 May, 12:00-14:00  
Drop in, open to staff and students  
Join us for lunch to celebrate the power of community organising as we reflect on Camberwell College Citizens' collaboration with Southwark Citizens to date and get an exhibition tour. Free food and drink provided!
