Large waste items

Book a collection for large items like furniture (bulky waste). How much it costs. What we can and cannot collect. Report a missed collection.

It is illegal to dump large waste items or any other rubbish on public land. You could be fined or sent to prison. 

We can collect large items from your home that cannot be placed in normal household waste bins. 

We charge £35 for removing up to 10 large or bulky items in 1 collection. 

Large waste items we can collect

You can use the large item waste collection service for:

DIY waste:

  • doors
  • kitchen units or worktops
  • radiators
  • wood (tied bundle, maximum 25kg weight and 200cm length)

Electrical and electronic:

  • boxed small electrical items
  • PC, laptop or other computer
  • computer monitor
  • electric fan or lamp
  • games console
  • hair and beauty electrical item
  • radio, stereo or hi-fi music system
  • TV, video or DVD player

Furniture: 

  • bed base or frame
  • bookcase
  • chair or office chair
  • chest of drawers, cupboard or wardrobe
  • kitchen, dining or small table
  • mattress
  • desk, sideboard or bureau
  • sofa, armchair or sofa bed

Garden items:

  • barbeque
  • children’s swing, slide or playset
  • garden chairs and recliners
  • garden tools
  • lawnmower

General household items:

  • baby items such as cot, high chair, playpen or car seat
  • bicycle
  • boxed kitchen items such as pots, utensils or crockery
  • boxed small items such as books, ornaments or toys
  • clothes dryer or airer
  • exercise equipment
  • ironing board
  • mirror
  • pushchair, pram or baby carrier
  • suitcase

Electrical appliances:

  • cooker
  • dishwasher
  • food mixer or blender
  • fridge freezer
  • iron
  • oven, grill or microwave
  • toaster or kettle
  • vacuum cleaner
  • washing machine or tumble dryer

Soft furnishings:

  • bedding or other textiles (bagged)
  • carpet or rug (rolled)
  • clothing (bagged)
  • quilt, pillow or cushion (bagged)

Large waste items we will not collect

You cannot use this service for:

  • any item over 2 metres in size
  • any item too heavy to be safely lifted or transported
  • industrial waste such as car parts
  • waste from any business
  • construction waste such as rubble, soil, tiles, concrete or similar materials
  • hazardous waste such as chemicals or asbestos 
  • waste that cannot be safely handled and transported due to sharp edges, protruding nails or similar.

If your large item cannot be collected, you can take it to the tip.

Book a large waste item collection

When booking a large waste item collection, you agree that:

  • we cannot arrange in advance to meet you to collect your items
  • a maximum of 10 items can be included in one collection
  • items for collection will be left outside your home at ground floor level
  • items will be accessible and visible, so our crew can easily find and access them
  • items will not be left in back gardens, bin stores, garages, behind security gates or similar

You’ll need to pay the £35 fee by credit or debit card during the online booking process. 

You cannot get discounts or concessions for the large waste item collection service.

You’ll get a confirmation email which will show the collection date and reference number. 

Make sure you leave the items at the agreed location by 6am on the collection date. 

We collect from between 6am and 4pm.

Cancel booking or report a missed collection

You can cancel your booking at any time. The charge will not be refunded. 

You cannot make any changes to your collection dates or times after the booking is confirmed.
