Become an intern with Southwark Council
Being an intern with us is a great way to start your career. You'll join one of London’s top employers and one of the most forward-thinking councils in the country. Internships with us last 6 to 12 weeks. You may be able to fit an internship around other commitments like studies.
Our internships are open to residents aged 16 to 24. We're keen to give opportunities to those in our community who face barriers to employment and in achieving their potential. Young people who:
- are eligible for free school meals
- have been in care and looked after by a local authority
- will be the first generation in their family to attend a UK university (if eligible)
- have disabilities and special educational needs (SEN)
If you don’t meet the criteria but are finding it difficult to get work, we'd still like to hear from you. In your application, you must provide more information about the disadvantages you face in finding work or in progressing your career. We also want to know how you see this opportunity helping you overcome that disadvantage.
