Financial assessment

Check if you can get support to help pay for your care. How the financial assessment works.

How the financial assessment works

You do not need to contact us for a financial assessment.

Your social worker will let us know when your care needs assessment is completed. We’ll then offer you a financial assessment.

You must be able to show our team proof of any income like:

  • pension statements
  • bank statements

Also expenses like:

  • rent
  • Council Tax
  • utility bill statements

If you have any disability related expenses you must send in receipts for these with your completed form. The team will decide if it’s an eligible expense.

The personal expenses allowance amount is set by the government. It shows how much you must be left to live on every week.

You can fill out a financial assessment form online or we can send one to you.

Online form

We recommend you get independent financial advice before filling out an online financial assessment form.

We’ll use the information you give on this form to work out your care charge. We’ll send you a letter to explain the result.

If you select the ‘do not disclose’ box on the form, you’re agreeing to pay the full cost of your care. We’ll confirm this in writing.

If you do not pay, we’ll take action to recover any outstanding charges.

Paper form

If you prefer you can get a financial assessment form emailed or posted to you by:

Post or email the form back to the charging team so they can work out how much you can afford to contribute based on:

  • how much it costs to provide the care and support to meet your needs
  • your personal expenses allowance
