The London Living Wage

Overview

Workers should earn enough to provide for themselves and their families. This is the key principle of the London Living Wage.

People paid the London Living Wage are more:

  • financially secure
  • able to pay rent and buy food
  • able to pay taxes

The London Living Wage is:

  • based on the actual cost of living
  • updated annually in November
  • voluntary for both employers and staff unlike the statutory National Living Wage

Southwark became the first London borough to be recognised as a Living Wage Place by the Living Wage Foundation.

The London Living Wage also benefits employers by providing:
