Scrap metal collector and site licence

You need a licence to deal in metals or car salvage:

• a site licence lets you buy and sell scrap metal from a specific, approved location
• a mobile collector's licence lets you collect scrap metal through door-to-door collections

To deal in scrap metal, you must be at least 18 years old and not be disqualified for dealing in scrap metal. Each licence will last for 3 years from the day we grant it. 

Trading in scrap metal without the right licence is illegal.
