Building materials licence
You will need a licence to place building materials on the public highway.

Before you start
You will need a:
- major materials licence for material occupying a floor space of more than 6 square metres
- minor materials licence for material occupying a maximum floor space of 6 square metres
You’ll need the following documents before you apply for a building materials licence:
- a copy of your public liability insurance
- company bank details, VAT number and company number on letter headed paper
- all relevant site plans or diagrams

Apply for a parking suspension if you need one, as well as the building materials licence.
Send your completed application to the address on the form.
You must apply for the licence at least 15 working days before it is needed.
Licences last 4 weeks. To extend one, you must reapply 14 days before the current licence expiry date.
