A licence is required if you wish to place a builder's skip on any part of the public highway.
You need a licence to put a skip on the public highway.
Only skip companies can apply for a skip licence.
We have an approved list of skip companies (PDF 236.5 KB). You will need to approach one of these companies, which will then apply for a licence on your behalf.
Applications must be received at least 7 days before the skip is due to be delivered onsite.

You’ll also need to apply for a parking suspension to put a skip in a restricted parking space.
