Whistleblowing

Southwark Council introduced the Whistleblowing Policy and Procedure (PDF, 437kb) to enable workers to raise issues of concern in an appropriate manner. The term 'worker' broadly includes employees, independent contractors, agency workers, trainees and a person who is or was subject to a contract to undertake work or services for the council.

If a council worker is concerned about something that's happening at work, which they think could be unlawful conduct, bribery or financial malpractice or practices that are dangerous to the public or environment, it's important that they know what they can bring to the council's attention and the appropriate action to take.
