Annexe discount
Apply for 50% off your bill if you have a self-contained annexe or 'granny flat' that a relative lives in.
You may receive a 50% Council Tax discount if you have a self-contained annexe or granny flat.
It must be a separate living area to your main house.
You’ll qualify if it’s lived in by a relative or resident of the main house.
Check if your annexe is banded as a separate area with GOV.UK's Council Tax band checker tool.
You must continue paying while we decide and cancel your discount if your situation changes.
Other discounts
You may not have to pay Council Tax at all for your annexe if your relative is over 65 years and either of the following applies. They're:
- severely mentally impaired
- substantially and permanently disabled
