The Bookstart programme offers free books to children, along with guidance materials for parents and carers. It’s a national programme that aims for all children to develop a love of books.
Our libraries and Children and Family Centres offer Bookstart sessions for all children from 0 to 4 years old, along with their parents or carers. Each session includes singing, educational play, storytelling and much more. No booking is required, and you can just drop in.
All sessions take place during term time and will not run during school holidays.

Every child in England and Wales is entitled to a free Bookstart pack before they are 12 months old.
Bookstart gives additional needs packs for babies and toddlers, as well as dual-language books.
