Mint Street Park

Mint Street Park is a local play space and venue for community events.

It's the largest green park in Bankside and has a playground for children up to 14 years, a community stage, and a small sports pitch.

History

Mint Street Park is located at the previous site of the Evelina Children's Hospital from 1869 to 1976.

It became a semi-derelict open space with a reputation for crime and anti-social behaviour. Bankside Open Spaces Trust brought together the local community, with our support and the then Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, to work out what local people needed.

The community included groups of homeless people, parents and young people who all played a role in improving the space.
