Temporary Event Notices (TENs)

TENs are decided on a shorter timescale and any representation must be made within 3 working days. Only EPT and the police may object to TENs, there is no right for the public to be consulted or object. The sub committee must make a decision to allow or prevent the event, at least 1 day before the event.

There's no hearing or right of appeal against a representation to a late TEN (submitted between 5 to 10 working days before an event is planned to happen). If a representation is made, licensable activities at the event cannot go ahead.

When deciding whether to make a representation to a TEN, EPT consider the premises' complaints history, and:

normally there will be no representation made if there have been similar events in the past with no history of complaints
if the event is in a format or location that could potentially cause complaints, EPT may advise on how the event should be managed to avoid causing nuisance
