The longer a property is empty the more Council Tax you may have to pay on it.

Our empty home services can help you make money while providing a home for someone.

Refurbishment cost help

We have a limited number of loans and grants to help you refurbish your property to:

• let it on the private or social housing market
• live in it as your main home

If eligible, we offer:

• grants of up to £40,000 if you let your property through one of our letting schemes
• fixed-fee loans of up to £70,000 if you want to rent it privately or live in it

In certain circumstances you may be able to get a grant and a loan.

VAT on building works on empty properties is charged at a reduced rate which also helps with refurbishment costs.
