TMO structure
TMOs can manage a few homes and may rely on volunteers. Other TMOs manage whole estates of thousands of homes.
All TMOs have staff including housing managers, caretakers and repair workers.
TMOs usually elect a management committee of tenants and leaseholders to run the organisation. We pay management and maintenance allowances.
If there is a TMO for your estate, your tenancy rights or the ownership of your home are not affected. Tenants have exactly the same rights as if they were under our management.
TMOs can register:
- as community interest companies
- as companies limited by guarantee
- with the Financial Conducts Authority (FCA) as a co-operative or community benefit society
